Abstract: With the construction and development of Automatic Fare Collection (AFC) System of Urban Transit, the modular design has been playing a significant role in the application of Station Locale Equipment (SLE) of the AFC System. The modular design was helpful to replace the fault module and promote the efficiency of overall equipment inspection, reduce variations in overall structure, reduce needs for equipment upgrade, and be convenient for design and replacement of module equipment, save social cost. The paper took the ticket vending machine(TVM) of the AFC System in Beijing Metro Line15 as a case to discuss and research on the application and development of the modular design in the Station Locale Equipment (SLE) of Urban Transit AFC System.
