Abstract: In order to reduce the maintenance cost of axle box bearing and shorten the axle box bearing purchase period, the localized preparatory manufacture of vehicle axle box bearing for Beijing Metro Line 8 was taken. The main design technical requirements, manufacturing process, life test, performance test and the operation trial of the manufactured axle box bearing were induced. Results of all the tests showed that the vehicle axle box bearing could meet the needs of the running requirements of Beijing Metro Line 8.
